Principor Communications Receives Seal of Social Responsibility
for Pro Bono PR Work

WASHINGTON, DC—May 9, 2005—Principor Communications has been awarded the “My Business Cares Seal of Social Responsibility” by the Greater Washington Business Philanthropy Summit. The public relations firm specializing in marketing communications and issues management was recognized for its pro bono work on behalf of Miriam’s Kitchen, a homeless feeding program in Washington, DC.

Principor Communications has provided message development, media training and media outreach assistance to Miriam’s Kitchen since the agency was founded in 2002. Recent efforts have highlighted the gourmet meals prepared by Steve Badt, the organization’s professionally-trained chef. Badt and Miriam’s Kitchen have been featured on The Hallmark Channel and the Food Network, and in People Magazine, Gourmet and other national publications. Media coverage has resulted in increased volunteer interest and monetary contributions to Miriam’s Kitchen.

The Greater Washington Business Philanthropy Summit, presented by Washington Business Journal and Greater DC Cares, started as the Washington, DC region’s response to the call to action at the 1997 Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future in Philadelphia. Then First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton launched the first Philanthropy Summit in 1998. Since then, keynote speakers have included national leaders in corporate philanthropy including World Bank President James Wolfensohn, America Online CEO Steve Case, and US Secretary of Commerce Don Evans. As a result of these efforts, the top 25 corporate philanthropists in Greater Washington have more than doubled their annual giving.

“It’s gratifying to be included among the many Washington area companies that consider working with non-profit groups an integral part of their business model,” said John Jordan, President of Principor Communications. “Our agency really enjoys helping focus a spotlight on the great work done by Miriam’s Kitchen’s staff and volunteers.”
