Surveys Catch Medias Attention Timely surveys can be an effective way to generate media coverage and keep an organizations name in front of decision makers. Surveys provide the type of short, specific information many media outlets can use at any time. Our client and its partner the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC) conducted a survey on incidental employee absence, which is a large and growing problem for Fortune 500 companies and other large organizations. Promoting the results generated coverage in numerous print, online and broadcast outlets. For example, on June 1 the National Public Radio affiliate in Austin, Texas ran a feature story with comments by DMECs Executive Vice President. (Click here to listen to the feature story). Austin is an important DMEC market. The NPR piece and others have built interestincluding among journalistsin DMEC and its annual conference, to be held in July. The survey has set in motion a virtuous circle of intensified media attention; leading to a larger conference covered by more journalists; which will result in yet more media attention. The ultimate payoff at the end of the circle: New DMEC members. Short and focused media placements can trigger large and important results.
