Well Never See a "Do Not Read" Registry
A national Do Not Call Registry to battle telemarketers. Filters and legislation to fight spam email. TiVo and other devices that enable viewers to escape television commercials. Its becoming increasingly difficult for companies and other organizations to get their messages to potential customers and other important audiences. So how do you reach who you need to reach if ads and other marketing efforts provide diminishing returns? Public relations. The power of public relations has always been its ability to break through the clutter by communicating messages through third parties. Rather than you touting your company or product, an objective outsider does it for you. Numerous studies have shown that customer response to a product review or similar media placement far exceeds responses generated by most advertisements. An example of the effectiveness of third party endorsement is a recent review of i-O Display Systems i-glasses HRV. The review appeared in USA Today, which has a circulation of over seven million in its print and online formats. (Click here to read the review). As an ad, this article would have cost our client at least $30,000. More important, it would have generated far less web traffic than did this objective article. For five days after the piece appeared, i-O Display Systems web traffic was up by 220%. Strategic, aggressive, results-oriented PR works.
